Louis de Pointe du Lac has been a vampire for two centuries and has not made peace with a single night of it. He feeds and hates himself. He loves and cannot say so. He tells his entire story to a stranger with a tape recorder because he needs someone, anyone, to confirm that what happened to him mattered.
